Clarity before commitment

Everything you need to know before getting started at HoopLab.

getting Started

How do i know which program is right for my child?

Every new player starts with our Ready Check — a simple at-home assessment that helps us recommend the right starting level.

→ Start the Ready Check here

Does my child need basketball experience?

No. Our Jumpstart program is designed for beginners through to developing players, starting from first-time athletes.

Can my child try a session first?

We don’t run traditional free trials. Our focus is placing players in the right environment from the start using the Ready Check.
If needed, a single-session booking may be available — just get in touch.

What’s the difference between Jumpstart and Academy?

  • Jumpstart → Build fundamentals and confidence

  • Academy → Apply skills in game-like situations

Players move into Academy once they demonstrate readiness.

What level should my child be in?

Jumpstart has four levels:
Discovery → Formation → Application → Integration

The Ready Check gives a starting recommendation, and coaches guide progression from there.

Can players move between levels?

Yes. Progression is based on development — not time. When a player is ready, we move them up.

Bookings & Payments

How do bookings work?

All sessions are booked online. After completing the Ready Check, you’ll be directed to the most appropriate program options.

Do I pay per session or per term?

Most programs are booked per term to support consistency and development.

We also offer a weekly payment option to spread payments across the term.

Private training and some sessions are available as single bookings.

Can I switch between payment options?

Payment options are selected at the time of booking. If you need to make a change, just get in touch and we’ll help where possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes.
Program session changes are managed by cancelling and rebooking.

What happens if we miss a session?

Missed sessions aren’t refundable, but we’ll always try to help where possible depending on availability.

What should my child bring?

  • Water bottle

  • Comfortable training clothes

  • Basketball shoes (recommended)

Can parents stay and watch?

Yes — parents are welcome to stay and observe.

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions are structured and purposeful. Depending on the level, they include:

  • Movement & warm-up

  • Skill development

  • Decision-making activities

  • Competitive elements

We focus on teaching players how to play, not just running drills.

How do you track development?

We use structured progressions and ongoing coaching feedback within sessions.
Jumpstart players also work through defined skill levels over time.
